Typical Kickstarter?

But are these typical characteristics of Kickstarter projects? In other words: is Kickstarter always about pre-selling gadgets and a lot of media attention? No! The three projects are actually an exception. If you look at Kickstarter's annual figures for 2011 , you will first notice that the average successful project raises less than 10,000 dollars. In addition, you will notice that less than 3% of successful projects fall into the design category. The most popular category is film and is good for about 30% of successful projects (and also good for 30% of Kickstarter's turnover).

You can imagine that not all projects can get extensive media attention. The average Kickstarter brother cell phone list project does not (only) raise its money from the general public. We have done a sample of 15 successful Kickstarter projects, for which I have donated over time. This shows that small-scale projects such as Dordle Cards are financed for more than 50% by the existing network of the project owner. Popular gadgets such as Cosmonaut receive a lot of media attention and are financed for more than 95% by unknown people and are therefore an exception.

Second Kickstarter project raises $1 million
A few hours after Elevation Dock, Double Fine Adventure (an adventure video game) became the second project to raise over a million dollars ( in 24 hours! ). This easily surpassed the original goal of $400,000. Despite the huge amount, the average donation is relatively low (around $40).
