Social Media Content Optimization with ChatGPT for Work (Google Sheets)

Post by mstlucky8072 »

Artificial Intelligence has made a surprising entrance into our lives at the speed of light. The companies that provided this speed were OpenAI and its ChatGPT platform. It answers whatever we ask, chats with us and inspires admiration. This process, which is usually used as a hobby and starts with sharing the results on social media, helps to make the job of many people easier today. In fact, those who keep up with these developments have already started to be preferred in job interviews. If you are going to use ChatGPT for the first time, you can start by reading our blog post called ChatGPT Open AI and SEO Deep Dive .

Social media content creators now ask AI for their content ideas and get support when creating their monthly or weekly plans. So how can we speed up social media content creation? Do we need to enter ChatGPT every time and write a prompt to explain what we want, or is there an easier way?

In this article, I will show you how to turn your website content and event announcements into social media sharing, how to create content-specific UTMs, and how to do them with just copy+paste. To give a brief summary, the white areas in the screenshot below are the social media content and UTMs that I copied and pasted, and the colored areas are the social media content and UTMs that were created in 10 seconds. You can create this table and more for your own business by reading my article.

How to Install GPT for Google Sheets?

First, you need to go to Google Workspace Marketplace and download the GPT for Sheets & Docs add-on to your browser. After the download is complete, we open a blank Google Sheets page and define the OpenAI API Key for the add-on.

If you do not know your OpenAI Key, you can quickly create it with a link in the plugin. The link directs you directly to your OpenAI account. After logging into your account, click on the “Create New Key” button in the API keys section. Do not forget to copy your created OpenAI Key and save it to your notes. We enter the OpenAI Key you copied into the field in the plugin and save it.

Language Model Settings and Available Formulas
In the last step, we need to make GPT function settings. To do this, we set the language model we want to use, the creativity level and the maximum number of characters of your answers in the overseas chinese in uk data Default Settings section. If you are going to produce simple and short content, the language model I will recommend to you is the GPT Turbo 3.5 model . But if you are going to produce long and detailed content like newsletters, you can choose the GPT 4 language model, but for this you need to have a GPT Plus account.

You can find the formulas you can use in the “List of GPT functions” section. In this section, you can find explanations of each formula, examples, and short videos explaining how to use them. The formulas I will show you in this article are GPT, GPT_FILL, and GPT_TRANSLATE.

Let's take a brief look at what these formulas do and how they are used. Then, let's edit our Google Sheet file for social media content with detailed usage.

=GPT Formula
I recommend using this formula if you already have a ChatGPT prompt that you can enter. An example would be “Write Instagram post content about rainy weather”. You can use the formula in its simplest form as =GPT(“prompt”) . You have the chance to write in any language you want, but my advice is to write in English and then translate it with the GPT_TRANSLATE formula. Because it sets the Maximum Number of Characters according to English.

In the detailed example, you should have a GPT request and the content you will mention in your post ready. You can write them on separate lines and combine them in a single formula. For example, I prepared my request in the first column below, put the summary of the blog post I want to share on social media in the second column, and created my first content by writing the formula =GPT(“prompt cell”;”Blog Summary”) in the third column. The important point here is that after standardizing my GPT request, we can automatically create the post content by just copying and pasting our blog content.

=GPT_FILL Formula
In this formula, we can show an example to artificial intelligence and ask it to produce similar content. For example, as you can see below, I showed Apple and its latest model iPhone 14 Pro and Samsung S23 Ultra in the first part of the formula. In the second part of the formula, I wrote the brands I was curious about and the GPT_FILL formula automatically filled in the models of the brands I wanted by looking at their examples.

In the detailed example, we use this formula more for UTM creation. We show the AI a sample UTM, then we want it to look at this UTM and create another UTM according to the content/social media channel. As a result, when our example has a certain standard, you can automatically create a UTM in seconds by just copying and pasting the “Blog Link”.

The resulting UTM: https://zeo.org/resources/blog/2023-gui ... paign=blog

=GPT_TRANSLATE Formula
The last formula I will mention is used to translate a ready content into different languages. In my example, we will translate English content into Turkish content. You may ask me; Ahmet, why do we need translation? Let's write the prompt directly in Turkish and the result will be Turkish. As I mentioned before, we can only set the character limit settings for English. Therefore, if you want to produce content within a certain character limit, I recommend that you first produce it in English and then translate it with GPT_TRANSLATE. Preparing the formula for this is very easy. You can have your Turkish content ready in seconds by writing the formula =GPT_TRANSLATE(“Content Cell”;”Turkish”) .

Google Sheet Editing and Social Media Optimization
Now let's talk about how to edit our Google Sheet file. Since I can't show you my entire example file, I will proceed with an example where you can use the formulas you have read so far.

Collect Your Standard GPT Commands and Examples in One Tab
You can see my sample table in the screenshot above. I entered all my standard prompts for the posts I will create for blog content in one tab. I organized my prompts for Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. This way, when I use the =GPT formula, I pull the prompt directly from this tab. This is not only valid for blogs, if you have a different content type, you can add it in the same way on a different line and make your job easier.

What you see in line 2 is my UTM example. This way, I keep a standard example for =GPT_FILL in this tab so that all outputs are in a certain standard.

Keeping your GPT commands in a single tab and linking your formulas there will make your job easier because even a single letter change you make will automatically be reflected in all formulas.

Open a Separate Tab for Each of Your Content

If you produce different content on your social media, collect these contents in different tabs to keep your file more organized. As you can see in my file, even though I collected all my commands in the “Prompts” tab, I opened a different tab for each content.

In the screenshot below, you can see the tab I prepared for my blog content. In this tab, I paste the link of my blog content into the first column, and a section summarizing the blog content into the second column, and in about 10 seconds, my separate content for Instagram/LinkedIn/Twitter is prepared in both Turkish and English. UTMs are also automatically prepared right next to them, so I can follow these UTMs in website analysis. You can organize your sharing calendar by putting dates at the beginning of these columns.

Creating a Test Tab
One of the most important points is not to add your commands to your main “Prompt” tab without testing them, that is, without finalizing them. As your additions to your commands improve, the results also improve. For this reason, I recommend that you do a lot of trial and error on the test tab. In this way, all the content in your file will not change while doing trial and error.
