SEO: never seen it, never eaten it and never heard of it

Post by rabiakhatun785 »

My parents have no idea what I do for a living. No matter how much I try to explain, they end up forgetting and every now and then they end up asking me again. I don't blame them. After all, the digital universe is so far removed from their reality that it would be cruel of me to try to force them to immerse themselves in that world.

SEO is the acronym for “Search Engine Optimization”. In simple terms, SEO is the set of techniques that are applied to a website and that will help improve its positioning in search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Among the main benefits honduras mobile database that SEO can bring to a website/brand are the expansion of its relevance and authority in organic searches, increased traffic and even sales. But what SEO is, in detail and in practice, is a topic for another day.

This text is not intended to flatter my field of expertise. Today, I would just like to understand why educational institutions insist on outdated teaching plans and why my college colleagues also have no idea what I do at work. I don't blame them. We've never even had a Digital Marketing class, let alone SEO.

At the Advertising and Marketing college I attended, I learned that you can only be a copywriter, designer or planner. If you want to learn about any other area, you better be willing to learn on your own.

And throughout my undergraduate journey, I discovered a market that was going much further, a market that was charging much more than what I was learning. I discovered a market in need. I don't blame them. We are also students and professionals in need.

What I also don't understand is that when these same Institutions need to recruit us, they are there, in organic search, in ads on our social media, in AdWords campaigns or in remarketing campaigns that never stop chasing us.

The world has changed and the job market is changing, but education has not changed yet. We need to learn a lot more. We need to make a lot of progress on these issues. New students are arriving with a thirst for knowledge and they deserve to know about the gigantic digital universe. This is our world, our moment.

My current and future college classmates need to have at least a passing idea of what I do for work. They need to have the opportunity to learn about what I do for work.
