Capterra relies on proprietary data to provide our audience with unique, independent, and objective insights. Our data sources and methodologies ensure the quality and accuracy of the information we provide.

How we get our data
The data we use at Capterra is divided into several main categories. Data in each category is collected and analyzed using different methods:

User reviews
Capterra has carefully verified more than 2 million user reviews to provide authentic software experiences from real users. Reviewers rate and comment on various criteria such as overall user experience, features and functionality, value for money, and more. These ratings and comments serve as a data source for our research, comparison tools, software guides, and product rankings.

Our moderators verify that the reviewers are real people and that the reviews are authentic. They use leading technologies to analyze text quality and detect plagiarism and generative AI.

Buyer interactions
Our consulting team interacts with thousands of buyers from a wide range of industries and country email list practice areas who are interested in learning more about software solutions. Consultants have access to our database of more than 100,000 solutions and have successfully made more than a million recommendations, helping companies find the right options for their needs. Our content team analyzes these interactions to identify patterns and themes that can help buyers make better business decisions with software.

Research of providers
For the product profiles on our website, we use a combination of information provided by the vendors and information independently researched by our software research teams. Product profiles on Capterra are free for all software vendors. However, vendors can opt for a sponsored profile to receive premium placement in some marketplace content (more on this below).
