Signs, the key to success for a business

Post by bitheerani674 »

A marketing study says that we are exposed to around 3,000 advertising impressions every day. Among them, signs are one of the most effective. This is not surprising when you consider that they are an integral part of our modern urban landscape and ultimately our daily lives. Signs in Madrid, New York, Tokyo, are part of the identity of large cities. A reality that has been with us for decades. Here's why signs are so effective.

When customers are bombarded with too much information (think signs fantuan phone number data contain excessive text and/or graphics) they can experience what’s called cognitive overload . When this happens, your customers’ working memory can’t process the “overload” of information they’re receiving. Since customers have a limited amount of working memory, when they’re faced with too much information at once, it can not only give them a negative perception of your brand, but it can also negatively impact their decision-making abilities – so that’s the last thing you want as a business owner. Providing clear communication through signage is a great way to remove that barrier between cognitive overload and increasing the likelihood of purchases by the end user.

Consider this: If your business uses a more casual font , and you are a doctor’s office, from the outside in, your office looks more like a clothing store and less like a doctor’s office. The branding decisions you make are important, and keeping things consistent throughout your space is even more important.

A study by Harvard University confirmed that 76% of consumers will enter a store they’ve never visited before based on the strength of the signage , but more importantly, 52% said they would be reluctant to purchase if the signage wasn’t well done. What does this tell businesses? Signage is important, but making sure it fits your brand vision is potentially more important. Plus, your interior signage extends the brand experience , giving you more opportunities to not only convert a sale, but also present yourself as a leader in your space.

So how can you make sure your signage reflects your brand's character and identity? Working with a designer and following your brand guidelines is imperative. Pay special attention to the creation of your logo, the font size (bigger is usually better), the colors used (think colors used for brands like Coca-Cola, Apple), and the contrast between colors used in the signage - typically more contrast is better.
