When is it worth running a company blog?
Some people believe that running a company blog only works greece business email list when you have a personal brand. Yes, in such a situation, a blog is almost a necessity, because it helps not only to work on online visibility, bu also to build the image of an expert in a given field.
However, I believe that running a company blog also makes sense for other types of business. It works great for online stores or service companies, regardless of their size. In fact, I can say that if you want your website to be highly visible on the web, because the main profit comes from customers who find you this way, then I don't know of a situation in which a blog (if run well) would not bring any results.
Keywords – the key to high positions in Google
However, if we are talking about a blog in the context of its usefulness in positioning a website, the most important thing is that thanks to blog content we create places where we can use keywords related to our industry and scope of activity. By regularly adding new content, we can build the visibility of our website on the web for long-tail words, i.e. phrases that better specify what we do.
Even the best-written texts for offer pages will not do as much for our visibility on the web as a few thematic blog entries. In addition, using keywords in their content will be more natural than if we wanted to saturate the text in permanent tabs on the page with them as much as possible.
However, you can do much more in blog posts, because each blog post is a place where you can develop a topic in more detail using so-called long-tail keywords. These are phrases that are more precise and better describe the problem/product/service/customer need. To explain, I will use an example.
General phrase : kitchen design
Long tail phrases:
Kitchen design in a block of flats
L-shaped kitchen design
Open kitchen design for the living room
Kitchen design in the style of …..
There are many more ideas for long-tail phrases (you can find inspiration at Answerthepublic , among others ). Each of them contains a main phrase related to the clue of the business, i.e. kitchen design, and at the same time it is detailed enough to help build visibility in Google for a larger number of phrases. Of course, these phrases are searched less often than general phrases, but that does not mean that they are not worth dealing with. Quite the opposite, because long-tail phrases can bring more traffic and conversions than general phrases, because they simply allow us to reach the selected target group more precisely.
Website positioning with a blog – what to remember?
Now that you know that a blog can help with website positioning, I have a few tips for you that will help you create valuable blog content.
Write often and give value
First of all, remember that the quantity and regularity of content publications matter. It affects not only the number of keywords your site is visible for, but also how quickly you will notice the real effects of running a blog. If you want your blog to quickly take you to higher positions in Google, then write a lot and often. This is especially important at the beginning, when you are just starting to build your position and you do not have much content on your site.
Choose the right topics
Creating a company blog is about responding to the needs of your audience. If you want to reach your target group, you need to know what their problems are and what they will be looking for in Google. Only when you know who your customer is and can determine what they are looking for can you use a keyword planner (see also: 6 Keyword Suggestion Tools ), which will suggest the keywords you should use.
Optimize your content
Writing a blog to help you position your site is a bit different from writing a book or guide. The texts are supposed to help you raise your site's position in Google, so they need to be properly prepared for SEO. I mean the right content structure, using headings, and optimizing photos. You can learn more about this in the article how to write texts for SEO .
The blog doesn't have to be called that
The tab where regularly created content is placed is usually called a blog. Sometimes, however, someone does not like this name and would prefer to call it news, guide, articles, knowledge base or something else. The fact that these are useful content for the user, in which keywords are used, is more important here than the name of the tab under which they can be found on the page.
Do not host your blog on a subdomain
I have already written about this in the post Where to start a blog , but since I am collecting all the advice related to a company blog here, I will repeat it once again. If you want your blog to build the visibility of your website, do not do it on a subdomain or another domain, but in a directory. In short, the address of the page with entries should look like this: twojastrona.pl/blog (twojastrona.pl/artykuly, twojastrona.pl/aktualnosci). Any other solution will be worse and your efforts put into creating content that is supposed to help position your website will be wasted.
Positioning effects with the help of a blog – when?
There is no clear answer to this question. Much depends on the industry you operate in, how long you have had your domain, and how much you write. However, the wait for the first visible results is definitely counted in weeks/months, not days. So there is no point in waiting for the article you write today to be in Google's TOP10 tomorrow. Although such spectacular cases do occur, the time is usually much longer.
However, it is worth monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis, using tools for examining the visibility of the site in Google, such as SEMSTORM . Thanks to it, you will see whether and how your site is starting to climb higher in the Google results list.
