People may recall that local SEO is like a two-sided game since there are two separate methods of ranking. The first is the map feature and the other is the “regular” organic listings. The factors that need to be ranked will differ depending on the type of ranking required. Here, we’ll look at what SEO professionals consider to be the most vital elements for each.

Google Business Profile
According to BrightLocal, 36% of SEOs believe that a Google Business Profile is the primary factor in successfully ranking in the map pack, and 6% believe it’s important in “regular” organic results. Given that a taiwan phone number Business Profile is a necessity for mapping results, it looks set to have even more influence in the near future. Google’s study further highlights the importance of an up-to-date Business Profile, increasing the likelihood that customers will visit a business by 70% and the likelihood that they will buy from it by 50%.

Recent research from BrightLocal indicates that only 7% of SEOs consider citations to be the most critical element to their ranking success on “map pack” and “regular” results. This is a decrease from what it was in 2014. While their importance has decreased, citations are still beneficial because they help people find your business if they are listed in directories on the search results page for local queries.

Notice
According to BrightLocal’s 2021 study, 17% of SEOs consider reviews to be the top influencer on map pack rankings and only 5% for regular organic rankings. This shows that reviews have become increasingly important for map pack rankings in recent years, but their importance goes beyond simple rankings. Reviews build legitimacy for your business both within Google’s algorithm and in the eyes of customers.

Links
BrightLocal’s study found that the majority of SEOs (31%) consider backlinks to be the most critical element for ranking in “regular” organic search results, and 13% find them equally important for map pack rankings. Google’s 2016 statement that links are one of the top three ranking factors, along with a number of studies demonstrating the strong link between links and organic traffic, supports this conclusion. The importance of links for “regular” local rankings is growing, but their value for map pack placement remains relatively stable.

BrightLocal’s survey found that a third of SEOs agreed that on-page factors have a big influence on traditional organic search rankings, and 16% felt the same about rankings within the local map pack. This sentiment is becoming increasingly popular, as suggested by other BrightLocal survey results.
