Choosing the right profile photo is, together with the summary/headline, the most important aspect of optimizing the Linkedin profile in terms of work and personal branding. It requires the ability to communicate, to seduce, as well as coherence with personal branding. How to best choose the Linkedin profile image?
Here is the guide resulting from the study of hundreds of photos during the LinkedIn courses .
Consistent with your USP
An image communicates like 1000 words in a belgium telegram phone number list of a second. What does your photo say about you? What does the background communicate? What does it not communicate about what is important for your self-marketing or resume? The LinkedIn profile photo should be consistent with both the message you want to convey and your USP (the thing that makes you unique), especially now that LinkedIn has activated the feature that allows you to see, in real time, if the user is active (like Facebook and Messenger), by hovering over the profile photo .
If you are a beautiful woman looking for a professional job, putting a profile photo that is too low-cut can attract but be counterproductive for professional and work purposes (easy to misunderstand!). I find this photo of the dog trainer very effective, communicating what he does, in a coherent and nice way, with a single image.
Observe from the outside
Observing objectively is important: Hide the summary for a moment and ask a couple of friends to describe, with 3 adjectives, what your photo communicates. What kind of work do they think you do? How do these opinions differ from what you expected? If they are similar, the profile photo is consistent with the headline.
Making a great first impression is important: small details that seem obvious to you communicate strongly and immediately: during a LinkedIn training, a participant confessed to me that some prospects had denied him contact because he had a strange profile photo and sunglasses!
I recently developed a tool, based on machine learning, that extracts your mood and related topics from your photo (fishing among thousands of photos). I will talk about it in depth at TEDxLugano on Saturday 9th September.

Consistent with the media
Why do you spend time on LinkedIn? Is it the same reason you are on Facebook?
Probably not! If so, change your photos and adapt them to the social network and the objectives of your presence. Test your profile photo with artificial intelligence tools or simply by asking colleagues or friends; discover how to use LinkedIn and the images you convey in a synergic way and you will get what you are looking for.
