Sora has competition: Runway dazzles with its new app to generate videos with AI

Sora , OpenAI’s tool for generating videos from text prompts, was supposed to be miles ahead of its rivals and supposedly unmatched by anyone. However, Sora’s supposed superiority has been called into question after New York-based AI startup Runway released a new version of its AI video-generating app: Gen-3 Alpha.
Gen-3 Alpha also has a significant advantage over Sora: unlike its rival, which is available only to a select few users, Runway's tool is public in nature . Gen-3 Alpha is now available to all registered Runway users. However, unlike its predecessors Gen-1 and Gen-2, the new Runway model is not free.
The tool is available to Runway users willing to sign up for one of the generative bahrain whatsapp data AI platform's paid plans, which start at $12 per month.

Although Gen-3 Alpha only has the “text-to-video” mode activated today, in the next few days it will also launch the “picture-to-video” and 2video-to-video” functions.

The Runway model is especially focused on marketing and advertising professionals.

The Runway model has been trained on large video and still image data sets that have been further enriched with descriptive captions , ultimately contributing to Gen-3 Alpha’s ability to produce extraordinarily realistic videos.
Gen-3 Alpha is just the first in a series of models developed through large-scale multimodal training. Runway’s ultimate goal is to develop a model dubbed the “General World Model” that will be able to represent a wide range of real-life situations and interactions.
While Runway's new model boasts of outperforming its closest rivals, the Gen-3 Alpha has some limitations compared to Sora . While OpenAI 's tool can generate videos up to a minute long, Gen-3 Alpha only produces clips up to 10 seconds long.
However, Gen-3 Alpha leaves Sora behind in terms of speed and quality. And we are talking about a tool available to everyone, something that cannot be said of Sora, on the other hand.
Beyond OpenAI and Runway, Stability AI, Pika and Luma Labs have also launched tools for creating AI videos.
