What does it mean to be an early adopter or a late adopter?
These terms in English express exactly what we were talking about earlier. An early adopter is the person who uses new tools, social networks, platforms, applications, etc. before most people do. And a late adopter is the opposite , they are the person who waits for them to be tested and established before using them.

In which cases is it better to be a late adopter?
As we all know, many things on the Internet are volatile . If we are talking about a new platform or social network, it is best to wait until it is already positioned and has been tested by a good audience before entering it.
Imagine what it means to be present on a social network. I'm not just saying to have a page on it – because that's not what being on the network is – but to really be present. How? Having good content, attractive images, content of value for you, respecting the characteristics of that social network. This takes time and consequently money .
Because it is a new network, it is normal for it to have few users. Of these users, the audience that really interests you will be much smaller. In addition to all this, there is no guarantee that this social network will actually reach the audience you want, or that it will survive for a long time in the virtual world.
So, do you think it's worth investing in a new social network that's just launched on the market? Honestly, I don't think so, and I'll tell you why.
Doing a good job on social media is essential in any digital marketing strategy, and that takes time, which in my opinion can be much better invested in social media that are already firmly established in the market, where you know the type of audience that is part of it and how you can reach it.
So, in the case of platforms and social networks, it is a better idea to be a late adopter. A late adopter does more research before using something and does not act on impulse. And as you well know, in our field, analysis is essential.
And in what cases is it recommended to be an early adopter?
As we have just seen, it is not advisable to be one of the first to use a platform or social network with few users.
We will continue with the examples of social networks, but this can be applied to any other platform that we are part of because it is already established in the market.
Once we know the social network we are in, we begin to create our strategies and put them into practice. When we see that something is not working as we expected, we make the necessary changes and continue working.
Well, now that we know the audience that follows us on social media , we know the people we want to reach and the type of users on the network, we have a much clearer idea of what may or may not work.
If the social network we are on launches some new feature, then yes! With all the knowledge we have about what I mentioned above, we can be one of the first to use this new application.
In this case, we can and should be an early adopter and thus take off before the competition because we already know how the territory works . However, we must continue doing what we always do when putting a new strategy into practice, monitoring the results and, if necessary, making some changes.
