DKBC mourns the loss of former national player Josef "Sepp" Beck

Post by mostakimseo2025 »

The DKBC mourns the loss of former team world champion of 1970 and individual vice world champion of 1968, Josef Beck, who passed away last week at the age of 88.

In an obituary, his hometown club, SKK Altmünchen, praised him as a leading figure in the sport of bowling and a magnificent human being who, in his sport of bowling, was "all at once an aesthete, stylist, and visionary." The multiple German and Bavarian champion was a role model and contact for many generations, remained loyal to his club for over sixty years, and "played a key role in developing the club's talent factory with his professional expertise and warm manner, known across national borders."
For winning the 1970 World Championship, the German national photo editing services team, which included Josef Beck, received the "Silver Laurel Leaf" from the Federal President. "Sepp was very popular in our team because of his natural, Munich-like manner," recalls fellow selection member Erwin Siebert.

At the end of February 2016, a course for international referees took place in Poing. Over three very intensive days, the training was very practical and the training was also adapted to the developments in the sport of bowling. Frank Wagner from Germany achieved the best overall grade of all participants in a total of five exams over these three days with an incredible mark of 1.0. While Michael Koch, Dieter Tretter and Reinhold Below successfully completed the renewal of their international licenses, Michael Dennig was there as a guest and, as an active bowler, had to make hidden errors in the practical exam on the last day. Max Boklisch and Gerhard Benaburger from Germany required more preparation.

Of the eight newcomers out of a total of 27 participants, Gerhard Benaburger, along with Dumitro Bese from Romania, achieved the best grade of the newcomers with a score of 2.0. Time will tell whether the excellent and intensive cooperation will bear fruit. After all, not only the mayor of Poing, Albert Hingerl, but also the president of NBC, Siegfriedt Schweikardt, and NBC sports director Knut Wagner were welcomed as guests over the three days. The two course directors, Milan Barisevic, and the NBC training and development officer, Erwin Zimmermann, were more than satisfied with the performance and the cooperation
