Thanks to the efforts of Devin and other translation editors, Indonesia participated in WordPress Translation Day in 2020 and in 2021 hosted sprints and training sessions throughout the 30 days of the event.
Her enthusiasm and dedication to helping others translate WordPress locally and to promote the global community has been recognized in the 2021 WordPress Polyglots Special Recognition Award.
Community diversification
While translating, Devin noticed that there weren't many women in the WordPress community in Indonesia. She often found herself the only woman at an event.
So, together with several community members, she founded the local Perempuan WordPress community. The group is open to anyone, but prioritizes women as speakers at events.
Devin has gone further and supported the work of the phone number library Diversity Speaker Training group in the Community Team by translating materials and promoting the group’s initiatives in Indonesia. She aims to encourage others to get involved in this initiative, which helps increase the diversity of speakers at meetups and WordCamps.

In her professional life, Devin is an advocate for WordPress as a tool for people with a wide range of skills. She doesn’t write code, but she uses the platform extensively for her projects. In 2014, she signed up for a free WordPress.com account to save and share notes about what she saw or thought while commuting to work on public transportation. The site didn’t evolve into a blog, but it introduced her to the platform’s many capabilities.
WordPress to support talent and develop initiatives
With a background in environmental activism, Devin has worked in international organizational development, working on everything from policy to specific campaigns.
