Want to know what a typical Ferrari customer looks like? Most often, it is a representative of one of three categories: an athlete, a man over 50, or a rich upstart.
Not all athletes want to pay for a car
Sportsmen usually buy a Ferrari Berlinetta (a two-seater coupe) or a Ferrari Spider Gran Turismo. These are mostly guys who drive not just well, but “almost like racers” – or so they think. And some actually race their own cars, and their passion for motorsports does not fade for many years.
It seems to me that such amateurs have two paths: either they quit the sport after a few starts, or they race for a very long time. There are exceptions, of course, but they are quite few. I have already explained why a racer leaves the sport after the first competition: by taking part in them, he satisfied his ambitions, gave vent to his passion. And this is enough if he managed to achieve success. But failure cools his ardor.
Another type of driver, who has been racing for many years, becomes a regular at Maranello: they change cars every year, ask for modifications and updates, and if they feel they have become a big shot, they start to demand special treatment.
Surprisingly, for some reason no pilot who has achieved even a little fame, even a well-off one, believes that he should pay for a car. Because of this, sometimes we get into awkward, albeit quite funny, situations. However, they do not arise when we deal with professional racers, for whom a car is a necessary working tool.
